Receiving Payments
CSSD has multiple payment options available for payees. Please note that while payments are typically processed in just a few days, they can take up to 10 business days to be processed and distributed.
- Direct Deposit
- Payees can have child support payments deposited directly into their existing checking or savings account by completing the Direct Deposit Authorization Form or in Spanish Formulario de Autorizacion de Deposito Directo . This is the fastest and easiest way to receive child support payments. This option is also available through the New Mexico Child Support Online Portal.
- Pre-Paid Debit Card
- If you do not have an existing checking or savings account, or if you prefer a different payment method, you can have child support payments deposited directly into a pre-paid debit card by completing the Prepaid Debit Card (Tarjeta de Debito Prepadada). The pre-paid debit card allows for payments to be processed as quickly as direct deposit.
- Check
- CSSD requires all disbursements of payments to custodial parties be through EFT, to include direct deposit or pre-paid debit card. (See 8.50.125.8 NMAC). Under limited circumstances, an exemption to this mandate may be granted to a payee so that the recipient may receive warrants (checks) issued from CSSD. Checks can take 7-10 business days to arrive in the mail under normal circumstances. Checks may take longer to arrive due to inclement weather, loss/theft of mail, etc. Please contact your caseworker if you want to apply for an exemption to receive checks.
