DDSD Programs and Services

Welcome to the Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD) Programs and Services pages. We are dedicated to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities through a wide range of programs, services, and supports that promote independence, inclusion, and quality of life.


Waiver Programs

DDSD operates four Home and Community-Based Waiver Programs, which provide services and supports that help individuals live in their communities rather than institutional settings.

Intermediate Care Facility for Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities (ICF/IID)

ICF/IID provides residential services in a structured setting for individuals with intellectual disabilities. These facilities offer 24-hour care, including medical, behavioral, and daily living support.

Autism Programs

The Developmental Disabilities Supports Division (DDSD)  budget funds an array of services that are available to children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and their families.

Behavior Supports Services

DDSD Bureau of Behavior Supports administers several programs throughout the state, including the Crisis Support, Positive Behavioral Supports and Sexuality Supports.

Clinical Services

The DDSD Clinical Services Bureau  was established in May of 2005 to enhance health, safety and functioning for New Mexicans with developmental disabilities via the provision quality therapy services. The Clinical Services Bureau also manages several specialty clinics and the Medically Fragile Waiver Program.

Community Inclusion

Community Inclusion services focus on helping individuals engage in their communities through social, recreational, volunteer, and employment opportunities. These services aim to build meaningful connections and experiences.

Enabling Technology

Enabling Technology supports independence through the use of smart devices, remote monitoring, and assistive technology. These tools help individuals live more independently and safely at home and in the community.

Prader Willi Syndrome

DDSD funds and partners with ARCA of NM to provide assistance with PWS. The ARCA PWS Project offers comprehensive statewide support, including case coordination, specialized nutrition consultations, and tailored training in PWS-specific education. Their dedicated services equip families and teams with the tools they need to effectively navigate daily challenges while promoting awareness and understanding within the community.

Pre-Admission Screening and Resident Review (PASRR)

PASRR ensures that individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities are appropriately placed in care settings and receive the necessary support and services. It is a federally mandated screening process.

Provider Selection

The DDSD provides individuals, families, and caregivers with information needed to guide important life decisions.

State General Fund Programs

These state-funded programs offer essential support to individuals who may not qualify for federal waivers or who need additional services. They help fill gaps and provide flexible assistance based on individual needs.
