Steps to take when deciding if you want an abortion:
- Know your rights. Abortion is legal in New Mexico. People over the age of 13 can get an abortion without permission from their parents. Abortion is private and protected, just like other medical services.
- Figure out how far along the pregnancy is if you can. You will need to know the first day of your last menstrual period. Enter the date at Abortion Finder to find out your pregnancy dates.
- Learn about your options and the different types of abortion. Find more at Information About Abortion.
- Find a clinic. You can call the NMHealth Helpline at 1-833-796-8773 for information about clinics and wait times for appointments.
- Check out Trusted Resources to help with cost, travel and places to stay.
