Small Business Health Insurance Premium Relief
Small businesses are the backbone of New Mexico’s economy. To help lower health insurance costs for small businesses, the New Mexico Legislature worked with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to pass legislation establishing a Health Care Affordability Fund. The new law that provides funding to the New Mexico Office of Superintendent of Insurance (OSI) to reduce health insurance premiums for small businesses that purchase coverage in the small group market. The Small Business Health Insurance Premium Relief Initiative is the program established by OSI. The Health Care Affordability Fund and all of its initiatives, including this one, has since been transitioned to the Health Care Authority effective July 1, 2024. The initiative started on July 1, 2022.

Participating Health Plans in 2025
The below insurers are providing a 10% premium reduction for all qualifying small group health plans to their customers January 2025 through June 2025. They are providing a 10% premium reduction for Bronze and Silver plans and a 15% premium reduction for Gold and Platinum July 2025 through December 2025.
