Mimbres ZIP code added to emergency food assistance
SANTA FE — Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) customers in Grant County, including the newly added Mimbres zip code (88049), now have until Monday, July 28 to request emergency SNAP food benefits.
“We are urging SNAP customers in fire-affected areas of Grant County to request emergency food benefits replacement by Monday July 28,” said Niki Kozlowski, Income Support Division Director at the New Mexico Health Care Authority. “If you believe you may be eligible, please call the Health Care Authority or visit our local office in Silver City.”
Following Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham’s executive order declaring a state of emergency in Grant County due to the Trout Fire, SNAP customers living in the following zip codes may be eligible for support:
- 88053, 88061, 88062, and the newly federally approved ZIP code of 88049.
No documentation of specific food items is required — verbal reports are accepted.

Option 2: Visit in person
- Location: 3088 32nd Street Bypass, Suite A, Silver City, NM 88061.
- Hours: 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed from 12pm-1:30pm), Monday through Friday
Who Qualifies
To receive replacement benefits, households must:
- Be current SNAP customers.
- Live in affected ZIP codes (88053, 88061, 88062, and 88049).
- Report the food loss verbally or in writing by July 28.
Additionally, SNAP customers statewide can replace lost or damaged EBT cards through:

The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) urges eligible households not to delay—replacement benefits can be processed quickly, but only if reported before the July 28 deadline.
This emergency support covers approximately 4,975 New Mexicans and is part of the state’s ongoing efforts to assist families recovering from fire-related damage. The HCA is committed to ensuring those affected have access to available resources during this challenging time.
