The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) invites all primary care clinicians, clinic administrators, health system leaders, and Medicaid stakeholders to attend a one-day conference focused on advancing value-based care and strengthening primary care in New Mexico.

In collaboration with the Primary Care Council, HCA created the Primary Care Payment Reform Value-Based Payment Program to support Medicaid primary care practices with improving quality of care for their patients and delivering this care more efficiently and effectively. The conference will support practices in understanding and implementing value-based care models, connect them with resources that can support population health efforts, and celebrate their contributions to Medicaid transformation in New Mexico.
Agenda highlights:
- Plenary addresses from state leaders, including HCA Deputy Cabinet Secretary Alex Castillo-Smith and Acting Medicaid Director Alanna Dancis.
- State legislative and policy updates from HCA Strategic Planning Director Elisa Wrede.
- Keynote addresses from New Mexico Primary Care Council Chair Dr. Val Wangler (Gallup Community Health) and member Dr. John Andazola (La Clinica de Familia).
- Learn from their peers and other experts in breakout sessions and facilitated discussions on VBC culture, data exchange and interoperability, quality improvement, addressing patients’ social service needs, and more. Registrants may choose their breakout sessions prior to the conference.
- The conference will include an exhibit hall featuring vendors, community-based organizations, primary care partners, and other resources to support practices in succeeding with value-based care.

About the New Mexico Health Care Authority
The New Mexico Health Care Authority connects New Mexicans to the care and support they need to live healthy, full lives. The agency administers Medicaid, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), cash assistance, child support services, and behavioral health care across the state.
