Over 30 events across the state planned for September 2025

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Health Care Authority (HCA) proudly announces a series of statewide events in September to mark Recovery Awareness Month and support everyone who is in recovery and those who support them.

“In September and every day, we honor the courage of those in recovery and the dedication of the providers, peers, and advocates who support them,” said Secretary Kari Armijo, of the New Mexico Health Care Authority. “We are here to stand with communities across the state to promote healing, reduce stigma, and expand access to behavioral health services.”

All New Mexicans are invited to participate in Recovery Month events across the state, including community resource fairs, recovery storytelling circles, educational workshops on trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and culturally responsive recovery pathways, recognition ceremonies, and more. This year’s theme, “Recovery is for Everyone: Every Person, Every Family, Every Community,” highlights New Mexico’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and hope through collaboration with tribal partners, local governments, nonprofit organizations, and individuals with lived experience.

“Recovery is a journey of resilience, and no one walks it alone,” said Nick Boukas, director of the Behavioral Health Services Division at the New Mexico Health Care Authority. “Every step forward is made possible when individuals and communities come together.”

Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has proclaimed September 2025 as “National Recovery Month” throughout the state of New Mexico and encourages all residents to join in activities and initiatives that promote prevention, celebrate recovery, support mental health wellness, and build stronger, healthier communities.
